Successful Men Never Drink Canned Coffees

I found an interesting book. The title is "Successful men never drink canned coffees".
This book says that these days people tend to be short of  protein and take sugar too much, which affects the efficiency in our work.
If you drink a canned coffee, you can feel refreshed but after that you may feel sleepy or dazed, sometimes become unmotivated. This isn't because of your lack of motivation, but related to a medical truth.
After drinking it, the sugar  in it boosts your blood-sugar level and your pancreas expels a lot of insulin to lower it.Then you feel sleepy or boredom. It means, you should choose sugarless coffee.
The title is a little bit exaggerated. However what this book says is apparently true. Nowadays we tend to take a lot of sugar more than protein through a sweetened buns, rice balls and noodles which are easy to eat in our busy days. But protein is very important for brain work. In short, before an important meeting, you should not eat rice balls, noddles.
From now on, I try not to take these foods so much.

Christopher Reeve

I like Christopher Reeve, an actor who is famous as a Superman.
Because of his handsome look and well-built body, the role absolutely suited him.
I became fan as soon as I saw the movie.
So when I heard that he was paralyzed from joining a riding competition, I was so shocked.
But although he couldn’t move by himself, he tried to recover his functions by enduring severe rehabilitations.
This attitude gave many people who suffered from same condition some hopes.
I think he was a real Superman.

Fools Shouldn't Use Twitter...No, They Should.

Sometimes I see articles which report some student's  Twitter posts which  disclose their  crimes.
ex.
”I succeeded in stealing some goods in a convenience store!
”Today, I cheated  in an examination.
”Driving a car without a license is wonderful!
You know , Twitter is one of the interesting SNS that reports current individual's feelings, activities and hopes.
So these Twitter posts means, maybe, they did what they tweeted.
I was a little bit shocked. Why?
Not because I realized  how many people committed the crimes.
But because I got to know from these posts that they felt proud  rather than guilty enough to disclose their bad acts.
In short, they are stupid.
I am not a good person and actually, I did some bad things before.
But after that, I felt disappointed with myself and was never proud of it.
Why can they be so proud with their behaviors ?
Very embarrasing.
Fools shouldn't use Twitter!
...No, they should.
Their tweets make the authorities enable to trace them.
After being caught, they have a lot of time to repent.

I have to throw "please " away.

Everyday I take some online English lessons.
Yesterday, my English teacher told me not to use "please" so many times.
Yes, I often use this word.
"Please come again?"
"Please slow down?"
and so on.
It is too polite? But for me, it is very normal.
In Japan, courtesy and modesty are concidered very important in comparison with other countries(maybe).
These things make us polite.
We show the politeness in every way ,especially through our words.
We tend to use "please" in Japanese often even to our frends.
So for me, trying not to use "please" is very hard thing. I feel it is very rude and uncomfortable, because I always want to be a polite person.
But,I want to become a good Englsih speaker like Americans.
So it's time I disregard the frequent use of "please ".  OK, I will try.

By the way, there's a word which really I hate.
The word is "huh". Englsih speakers use this word in many situations, especially when they can't catch what they are told.
Actually when I heard this word for the first time, I got angry.
Because it is same as "HA" in Japanese, which means scorn.
This Japanese word is very rude.
After I learned about the word "huh", I could understand its meaning, but it makes me feel uncomfortable until now.
I should get used to using it.

Coupon Use by Men...at first date.

In recent years, it is common in some countries to use some kinds of coupons everywhere, ex. at restaurant, public gardens, museums....
Japan is not an exception. My country is full of a variety of coupons, for instance, Groupon, Ponpare, and Hotpepper.

Yes, it is considered very reasonable nowadays. But before, it was different from how we feel now.

About 3-4 years ago I was in marriage hunting----in short, I was so striving to find my future husband.
So I had many chances to date with new guys  who I got to know through many blind date parties,  and so on.

Somtimes, there were a few guys who used coupon at the first dates...
For me it seemed tacky. Why did  I consider their behavior like this?
Because I thought, and up to now I am still thinking about it,that men should be manly, which means they shouldn't be stingy for money.
In the case of women, it is OK, because women should be realistic, right?
(Of course,it is just my opinion.)

Please image it.

You  are in the middle of the dinner at a nice restaurant located in an urben area, with an attractive guy....
You started, surely, getting fall in love with him surrounded by a romantic atomosphere...
And you finish the fantastic dinner and he says"Please let me pay.."

Oh, How manly this man is! (until this moment)

Then, suddenly, he gets a piece of paper out of his nice wallet.
The cashier says, "Thank you for showing our coupon. Yes , certainly we can accept it at 20% off."
The romantic mood was collapsed.

Anyway,at that time, a lot of women regards it a little bit stingy.
But these days there has been a switch in mentality regarding coupon use.
Many women think the men who make most of  coupons as reliable.
It is because of this tense economic situation.

Well....about my hubby?
Of course he didn't use a coupon at our first date.
It is me who taught him how to use coupons for our family finance!

Very Expensive Traditional Feast in Japan

Who will buy this?
via The Wall Street Journal
Why Is This New Year's Meal $229,000?
This article says,Takashimaya, one of  the most famous department stores in Japan, is going to sell  very expensive ritual feast, "Osechi".

First, let me explain what Osechi is.

Osechi is a traditional meal that is eaten on the first of January to cerebrate new year.
Originally the word "Osechi" means "seasonal festival."
Then, it became the name for every food in each festival.

However, in recent years, "Osechi" is used as the name of what we eat on the first seasonal festival, the New Year's Day.
Generally,Osechi is served packed in some-tier boxes with the wish of multiplying hapiness.
Osechi consists of foods which can be preserved for about 3 days.
It is to save housewives from their duty cooking and to avoid using fire for these 3 days.

---------------------------
As you can see on this article, the price of upcoming Osechi costs ¥18 million, or about $229,000.
At first, I couldn't help but laugh!.
How expensive it is! and who will buy this? So, so, stupid.

But of course , there are.
Hey,  buyer, please cheer up Japanese economy by spending a lot of money into such luxurious things.
----words which I learned----
princely:very grand; generous
splurge:an act of spending a lot of money on something that you do not really need
ostentatious:expensive or noticeable in a way that is intended to impress people
