In recent years, it is common in some countries to use some kinds of coupons everywhere, ex. at restaurant, public gardens, museums....
Japan is not an exception. My country is full of a variety of coupons, for instance, Groupon, Ponpare, and Hotpepper.
Yes, it is considered very reasonable nowadays. But before, it was different from how we feel now.
About 3-4 years ago I was in marriage hunting----in short, I was so striving to find my future husband.
So I had many chances to date with new guys who I got to know through many blind date parties, and so on.
Somtimes, there were a few guys who used coupon at the first dates...
For me it seemed tacky. Why did I consider their behavior like this?
Because I thought, and up to now I am still thinking about it,that men should be manly, which means they shouldn't be stingy for money.
In the case of women, it is OK, because women should be realistic, right?
(Of course,it is just my opinion.)
Please image it.
You are in the middle of the dinner at a nice restaurant located in an urben area, with an attractive guy....
You started, surely, getting fall in love with him surrounded by a romantic atomosphere...
And you finish the fantastic dinner and he says"Please let me pay.."
Oh, How manly this man is! (until this moment)
Then, suddenly, he gets a piece of paper out of his nice wallet.
The cashier says, "Thank you for showing our coupon. Yes , certainly we can accept it at 20% off."
The romantic mood was collapsed.
Anyway,at that time, a lot of women regards it a little bit stingy.
But these days there has been a switch in mentality regarding coupon use.
Many women think the men who make most of coupons as reliable.
It is because of this tense economic situation.
Well....about my hubby?
Of course he didn't use a coupon at our first date.
It is me who taught him how to use coupons for our family finance!
